LG KC910 Review

     The LG KC910 has a moniter that sends out a bold and clear statement about talent. Packing a whopping 8 megapixel camera and top-of-the-line video recording, the LG KC910 Renoir is all about capturing the moment, leaving an impression. While this alone should be enough to assert an identity, the Renoir just won’t stop there. With the full touch user interface and the portly 3″ display, everything is a mere touch away. Wi-Fi, HSDPA and GPS are all aboard to add the last bits of oomph to the feature-loaded LG Renoir.

The exciting facts and figures from the Renoir specs sheet however won’t really give away its real-life performance and this is where we step in. We already had the camera performance of the LG Renoir to bits in our 8 megapixel cameraphone shootout but it’s time to move up and look at the bigger picture.

Key features:

* Quad-band GSM, HSDPA 2100 MHz
* 3″ 256K-color touchscreen TFT display (240 x 400 pixels)
* 8 megapixel autofocus camera, xenon flash (geo-tagging, face tracking, blink detection, touch focus, manual focus)
* Video recording in AVI format, VGA@30fps, QVGA@120fps, time-lapse QVGA videos
* Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
* Wi-Fi
* GPS receiver with A-GPS support
* TV-out
* 100MB internal memory
* Hot-swappable microSD card slot (ships with 8GB card)
* Accelerometer for auto screen rotate
* DivX/XviD video playback
* Dolby Mobile music enhancement
* FM radio with RDS
* Office document viewer
* Multi-tasking with a real task manager
* Handwriting recognition
* Excellent touch optimized image gallery
* Direct video uploads to YouTube
Main disadvantages:
* Xenon flash is inadequately powered and causes the camera to underexpose
* Fullscreen camera viewfinder doesn’t show the entire frame
* No video streaming over Wi-Fi (such as the mobile YouTube)
* No Java connection over Wi-Fi (so Google Maps needs a data plan)
* No voice-guided GPS navigation
* Stylus as dongle only, no stylus compartment
* Design will not appeal to everyone
LG Renoir is among the few 8 megapixel cameraphones that are already on the market and chances are you have been eyeing it big time for this year’s holiday shopping - especially if you are into big touchscreens.
It builds on the Viewty popularity but does walk its own path, adding a number of innovations to the equation. The feel and overall experience is different - and better - with LG Renoir.
I guess we’re looking at one of the most obvious rivalries in the game. The main competitor of the Renoir full-featured multimedia package is non other than Samsung Pixon. Both share the touchscreen form factor and will probably appeal to the same kind of users.
Choosing between them is a tough call. The Pixon has more camera-centric looks and is certainly a match for the Renoir imaging skill. Both have similar price tags and, while the Pixon lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, it makes up some with slightly bigger screen estate, better widgets, WVGA video recording and quad-band GSM support (which most Renoirs on the market reportedly lack).
Make your own choices:)

Sony Ericsson W508, New and Flashy

The Sony Ericsson W508 is a Walkman clamshell that comes with eight interchangeable StyleUp covers (one extra cover included in the retail pack) plus the well-known Walkman features such as external music keys, Shake control, SenseMe and TrackID. The built-in accelerometer also allows for screen auto rotation and motion gaming.

Additionally, the nice looking W508 comes with Gesture control much like the Sony Ericsson W380. Gesture control allows you to mute calls or silence the wake-up alarm with a wave of your hand.

The Sony Ericsson W508 has a 2.2-inch QVGA main display plus a monochromatic scratch-resistant 1.1-inch external OLED one with a resolution of 128 x 36 pixels. The device is also supposed to offer 24 hours of constant music playback. Threaded SMS/MMS (conversation style messaging) is also included as with all other Sony Ericsson phones announced today.

A 3.2 megapixel fixed focus camera, quad-band GSM support, HSDPA, FM radio with RDS and 1GB M2 card completes the Sony Ericsson W508 spec sheet.

The Sony Ericsson W508 is expected to hit the market from Q2 2009 in both Metal Grey and Poetic White color versions. In either version it will have one extra Style-Up cover in one of eight the available colors: Sunny Orange, Forest Green, Architectural Purple, Mysterious Graffiti, Midnight Summer, Splashed Art, Radial Blue or Street Hip-hop

Sony Ericsson W715 Announcement

The Sony Ericsson W715 is a Wi-Fi/GPS-enabled slider made exclusively for Vodafone, while the Sony Ericsson W508 is a Walkman clamshell with 3 megapixel snapper plus Shake and Gesture control.

The Sony Ericsson W715 Walkman phone is practically identical to the Sony Ericsson G705. Wi-Fi (with DLNA), GPS receiver, a 3 megapixel snapper with geotagging and an accelerometer that allows for auto screen rotation and motion gaming are its main selling points.

Additionally, the W715 is loaded with Walkman goodies such as the

@latest Walkman music player,
@TrackID,
@SenseMe and Shake control.
@Threaded SMS/MMS (conversation style messaging) is among the latest Sony Ericsson features that’s   also on board the W715.

As i already said, the Sony Ericsson W715 is made exclusively for Vodafone and uses their turn-by-turn navigation solution called Vodafone Find&Go (as well as Google Maps).
The Sony Ericsson W715 has quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support plus dual-band UMTS/HSPA 9100/1200 connectivity.

The Vodafone exclusive Sony Ericsson W715 will be available in Galactic Black and Luxury Silver. Country availability is yet to be announced.

Nokia E63 review: E for Economy

Nokia E63 is the next QWERTY messenger by Nokia, set on the glorious path of the E71. Only this time it slips off the high heels to walk it in plain straight and simple boots instead. And the matching price tag leaves little doubt of what this Working Joe here is all about.

No fancy spoils, the Nokia E63 means business and brings connectivity and messaging together in a sharp and reliable package. Certainly a no-thrills mobile, the E63 does its jobs with no fuss and at a fair wage. Well, who would frown at that?

Now, comparisons to E71 are clearly inevitable and maybe we know better than expect Nokia E63 to impress us as much. But who says it can’t persuade through common sense.

So the lucky, go get it:)

SanDisk 16GB microSD and M2 cards get presumably faster

SanDisk will start shipping this month two new memory cards from the Mobile Ultra line. The 16GB microSD and M2 units will be bundled with MobileMate Micro Reader for easy USB connection.

SanDisk announced their new memory cards - 16GB microSD and 16GB M2 from the Mobile Ultra lineup. They will be available to the world this month.

These two new additions to the removable memory products are not the first with this huge capacity. Class 2 16GB memory cards are already available on the market. According to SanDisk the new Mobile Ultra cards promise faster transfer speeds and access times.

The suggested retail price is $120 for the microSD and $130 for the M2 one, which is twice as much as the price of the regular Class 2 cards.

The price difference is even more harsh having in mind that SanDisk are not actually claiming that these cards qualify for a higher class. And we really doubt they are twice as fast as the current products. Still, if speed is what you’re after at all costs, you might as well give them a try as these cards have an extra selling point - a 10-year limited warranty.
